MB&F HM6 Final Edition Watch

We’ve seen some crazy watches before, but this unique timepiece may take the cake. The MB&F HM6 (aka Horological Machine N°6) Final Edition will be limited to only eight timepieces.

So what exactly is this sci-fi looking watch priced at $215,000? The initial sparks of inspiration for HM6 came from a 1970s and 1980s Japanese anime TV series called Capitaine Flam, featuring the eponymous captain and his improbably bulbous spaceship.

The Swiss watchmaker created the complex 475-component movement entirely from scratch, a process which took three full years of research and development.

The movement’s platinum oscillating weight, visible through a sapphire crystal window on the underside of the case, as well as the hour and minute spheres have a bright blue PVD coating mimicking the light given off by “hot” stars in the sky. Twin “turbines” create air resistance to protect the automatic winding mechanism.

The result? One kick-ass timepiece.
