Angel’s Envy Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks

Louisville-based craft distiller Angel’s Envy is releasing its first new product since 2013, a limited-edition bourbon finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, named, what else, Angel’s Envy Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks.

Before entering the Oloroso Sherry casks, the bourbon was aged for four to nine years. It was then finished in Oloroso Sherry casks between two and three years. We haven’t tried it yet, but if it’s anything like their other releases (a bourbon in port wine barrels and rye in rum casks), it’s going to be amazing.

According to the distiller, the 100-proof “Sherry” has a sweet nose with hints of raisin and hazelnut. It hits the palate as oak forward with a distinct dryness from the sherry, as well as vanilla and caramel with a finish that shifts from sweetness to lingering floral.

Only 3,600 bottles will be available for purchase at the distillery in downtown Louisville and select retailers in Kentucky.

It hits shelves Feb. 15 while supplies last. We smell a road trip coming.
